Brighton were at St James's Park this afternoon.

They dominated the first half and then had to hold firm for the final 20 minutes.

But who shone and who struggled for the Albion?

Solid once again and a great save in the first half to deny Almiron
Excellent at the back and drove forward with purpose.
Enjoyed a tussle with Joelinton. Commanding and comfortable on the ball. Excellent range of passing.
Brighton's Dan Burn play against his boyhood club Newcastle United (getty)
Assured display and patrolled the right flank well. A cool customer and never looks hurried or flustered.
Hardworking display but not the impact he had last week against Burnley
Played deeper today. Tidy in possession and covered defensively when Webster and Burn bomb forward.
Often the link between defence and attack. First touch always spot on and looks to split the defence with slide rule passes for the front runners.
Settled into the midfield well. Experienced Premier League performer and will get better with more game time for Albion
Hustled the home defenders and had a decent effort at goal well saved by Dubravka at the near post.
Confident display on PL debut. Header ruled out for offside. Very encouraging from the 21-year-old.
Came on after 70 minutes. Contributed well and one dinked finish was brilliantly cleared off the line. Unlucky
Introduced on 82 minutes for Maupay. Added energy to the midfield for the final stages
Replaced Gross on 81 minutes. Battled well on the left
