Chichester and Pagham pile pressure on Sussex League leaders

Five of our six local Sussex League sides had positive results - and scored 18 goals in the process.

Leading the way were Pagham, who took their league goal tally past 50 for the season - the first top-flight side to do so - with a 4-2 home win over St Francis Rangers.

They’re third but level on points with them in fourth are Chichester City, who beat Eastbourne United 3-0 at Oaklands Way.

Joe Briggs and Adrian Brockway put City in command with goals towards the end of the first half and Ben Vassallo made sure of it with a late third.

The Lions and City both have 34 points and are just five behind leaders Crawley Down.

Also in division one, Selsey’s inconsistent season continued when they lost 4-1 at Ringmer.

In division two, Midhurst grabbed a 1-1 draw at Bexhill, with Luke Sheldrick their scorer.
