EP suffered their 31st defeat in 36 games as Chichester City ran out comfortable 4-0 winners at The Lashmar.

Jimmy Wild bagged a double while Ruben French and a Richard John own-goal rounded off the scoring.

EP boss Paul Ettridge believes it could have been a different story had his side taken their chances early on.

They had two golden opportunities in the first 20 minutes. First, Kris Harding fired straight at City goalkeeper David Hook – then Jake Cockerton scuffed a shot just wide.

They were made to pay for those misses when John put through his own net on 30 minutes.

Wild then popped up with two just before the break to give City a 3-0 lead.

EP kept pushing in the second but couldn’t find the net and French added a fourth with ten minutes left.

It was a question of how many they would score and Smith added another after the break to put City in the top six. They host third-placed Newhaven on Saturday.
