Tilly Gray took trials in September for the Sussex squad while LouLou Robson did the same for Hampshire. Both girls were successful and have been training with the county set-ups since October.

They played their first fixture when Sussex welcomed Hampshire and Elaine Gray, who manages Chichester City girls, watched.

She said: “It was a very nailbiting game and I was so proud to see both the players make the scoresheet. The final score was 4-4 – it was a very even game.

Emma Alexandre, a coach for Chichester City girls and captain of Chichester City ladies said: “It was such a honour to see two Chi Youth players represent their county and also excel – and both score.

Robson said: “It felt good to be playing – I enjoyed every moment.”

Gray added: “It was a challenge playing against LouLou as I am used to her playing behind me in centre midfield for Chichester City girls. It was a fantastic experience and I hope to excel even more for my dream to come true.”
