Chichester ladies can't manage upset at Haywards Heath

CHICHESTER went into their League Cup game at Haywards Heath as the underdogs as Haywards Heath are a league above and fighting at the top of their table '“ but they only narrowly lost out 2-1.

The game started with Haywards Heath on the front foot and Chelsie Collins in the Chichester goal ket her side n the game with several great saves in the first 15 minutes.

Chichester began to settle and their passing caused problems for the Haywards Heath defenders.

Haywards Heath made the breakthrough on 40 minutes when a well-struck shot found the bottom corner.

Chichester had an opportunity just before half-time when Natalie Spencer sprung the offside trap only for a fantastic save from the Heath keeper to deny her.

Chichester enjoyed a good spell of pressure after the break before a quick break brought an outstanding stop from Collins.

But some quick passing and another fine strike from outside the area left Collins no chance meant Chichester went 2-0 down.

Woman of the match Georgina Starkey pulled a goal back, giving the keeper no chance as the ball hit the top corner.

Chichester ran out of time to get an equaliser but had shown they have great spirit, which bodes well for the rest of the campaign.
