Three set-pieces helped City to a fine and convincing win at Littlehampton.

Jamie Horncastle’s double and efforts from Jimmy Wild and Zachory Moy saw Chi run out easy winners.

The display delighted Chichester boss Miles Rutherford, while Golds manager George Gaskin felt lack of concentration had seen his side drop points – not for the first time in recent weeks.

Teenage talent Wild bagged the opener on 15 minutes with a fine header.

Golds’ appeals for a penalty were waved away five minutes later when Reuben French challenged Gaskin.

Horncastle doubled Chi’s advantage with a neat finish on 58 minutes.

It was that man Horncastle again five minutes later as the travelling side made sure they left with all three points.

Golds stopper Jon Hendrick was forced off with a knee injury with 20 minutes left following a knock he had suffered earlier.

James Askew replaced him but was beaten one minute into stoppage-time as substitute Moy popped up to add a fourth.

The three points cement City’s place in the top eight - but they face a big test on Saturday when second-placed Horsham visit Oaklands Park.

Selsey move on to a third-round home game with Langney after a comfortable win at home to Midhurst.

An early goal from Dave Turner settled the Blues before Dave Rough made it 2-0 on 20 minutes.

Selsey boss Steve Bailey said: “We could and should have been out of sight by half-time.”

The second half was very similar – several good chances came and went before Cameron Corell finished well.

Bailey said: “Confidence is high at the moment after three straight wins. We just want to finish as high in the league as we can – and in the cup you never know, it might be our year.”

* Through to the fourth round are Sidlesham, who won 4-0 at home to Saltdean in round three.

Tom Kelly and Joe Jefkins struck to put Sids on their way before Barry McCoy’s late double made sure of progress.

Sidlesham visit Midhurst in the league this Saturday.
