Cook turns focus to loan window

But the Pompey boss feels it may be tougher than expected to get players out on loan.

The emergency loan window opens tomorrow, before closing on November 25.

That will also be the Blues’ last chance to recruit until the new year.

Cook has made it clear he is looking to move players on, with it hard to accommodate all of the 24 players currently in his squad.

But he acknowledged it may not be straightforward to do that at a level which would be beneficial to those looking to play.

‘We are going to pick it (loaning out players) up this week. We are waiting to see what will happen,’ said Cook.

‘It’s not always as easy as people think to get players out.

‘There’s not been loads of interest but we’ll pick it up this week.’

The need for Cook to send players out on loan can be seen by the lack of playing time for some players.

Adam McGurk has had just two starts and 63 minutes of league action for Pompey to date.

Kal Naismith’s first appearance was a 24-minute cameo against Exeter last week, with Adam Barton making his debut in that game, too.

Adam Webster has got just nine minutes of league football to his name this season, supplemented by three cup appearances.

Ben Close has played only in cup competitions with Ben Tollitt’s single start coming in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

James Dunne has had to settle for just 11 minutes of action since returning from an ankle injury.
