He thought they defended well against play-off chasing AFC Wimbledon but again they have emerged on the wrong end of a defeat.

He said: “It was disappointing the way we conceded. The game plan was good. I want to tell the boys well done, but they’ve just been beaten again.

“Good play for them for the goal. They’ve defended brilliantly all game but the one time we switched off, we got punished which just sums us up, so we’ve got to pick ourselves up and go again on Tuesday (away to Northampton).

“We’ve watched them and we knew what they were about. We knew they’d be direct and we knew we’d have to deal with balls in the box.

“We’ve got to look at ourselves and look at the manner in which we conceded.

“We conceded some poor goals last week against Oxford and we looked at the video and analysed it and said what we should have done things better.

“For most of the game we’d learned from what we talked about. For the goal we didn’t, and it cost us.”
