Crawley Wasps manager Dave Cole said it was a case of job done after his team overcame Worthing to reach the quarter-finals of the Sussex Women’s Challenge Cup.

Nikita Whinnett and Flo Jackson scored their first goals for the club in the 4-1 win, as Wasps began their defence of the trophy they won in February.

Worthing play three divisions below Wasps in the pyramid, but made for tricky opposition at Woodside Road.

“We always knew it was a potential banana skin”, said Cole. “They’ve got some experienced players, they knock the ball around.

“But we’ve come out the other side of it. The main thing is we’re in the next round.”
