In association with the Sussex County FA, walking football sessions are to take place between 7pm and 8pm one evening a week on the 3G pitches at Midhurst Rother College.

Barry Semark, who is setting up the sessions, says games will be seven-a-side and you don’t have to be an experienced player to take part.

The main aims are to have fun, get a bit of important exercise and enjoy the camaraderie.

There will usually be three 15-minute games with short breaks for water and to recuperate.

Walking football has become more and more popular around the country and, according to the BBC, around 40,000 people take part each week.

The FA will help fund the project to help get the sessions going, although there will be a small subscription to pay each week.
