Dynamos run out of power and Bognor are champions

UNDER-15

Worthing Dynamos 3 Bognor Town 3

Bognor are league champions after a nerve-racking draw with Worthing.

Dynamos were first to score with a tap-in from two yards but Bognor were not shaken as Joseph Bennett replied with an amazing header.

As in the first half, Worthing were first to score in the second with a well-placed finish – then they made it 3-1.

Bognor showed great character and retained their discipline and were rewarded when Harley Bain capitalised with a well-struck volley from a superb corner by Bennett.

With renewed energy Bognor were awarded a penalty but this was skied by Will Lintott.

Worthing had several attacks but in the dying minutes, Lintott seized redemption by slotting home a left-footed finish. And that was it – Bognor had the point that meant they were champions.

Chichester City Colts Red 2 Bognor Regis Town Youth 6

Champions Bognor finished the season with a good win over Chichester.

A long-range Ben Taylor shot rattled the bar and Bradley Stroud slotted in the rebound. Then a smart finish by a Chichester striker made the score 1-1.

Good work by Joshua Boyagian resulted in him scoring Bognor’s second. Nat White scored a magnificent half-volley to put Bognor 3-1 up at half-time.

Chichester came back fighting with a second before White completed his hat-trick. Bognor’s final goal came from a penalty by defender George Budge.

Bognor end the campaign unbeaten in the league and winners of the Challenge Cup. Thanks go to head coach Paul Selby for his knowledge, enthusiasm and wit. Credit goes to the defence of Ben Taylor, Bruce Eggleton, Will Jones, Robson Parr, George Budge and goalie Tom Fearns, who have kept so many clean sheets this season.

UNDER-12

Selsey Seals finally found form but too late to affect their B division league position over the final weeks of the season.

They at least proved their abilities by pushing both teams qualifying for A division all the way with a 2-1 defeat to Midhurst & Easebourne and the same against Chichester.

A second game against Chi saw Selsey lead until five minutes before the end – then Chichester equalised.

Selsey outplayed Felpham comfortably for a 3-1 win to finish mid-table.

A couple of friendlies saw Selsey lose to Chichester but finally beat M&E 4-2. Selsey wish Midhurst all the best for their upcoming cup final and hope they enjoy their day out.

The Seals coach thanked all the parents for their help this season, in particular Stuart Weaver and Stuart Montague for stepping in and providing referee and linesman duties.

The Seals under-12s are looking for a further two to three players for next season, notably a striker, and will be holding trials over the coming weeks.

Avisford Youth 2 AFC Worthing Youth Stars 1

Avisford took the points in a hard-fought encounter as the battle for third place intensified.

After losing the reverse fixture 6-0 seven days previously, Worthing came out in determined mood.

The best opportunity of a tight first half came from an Avisford corner. Damian Wasowski’s ball caused havoc in the Worthing defence, but Alex Jones’ shot was cleared off the line to keep it goalless at the break.

Max Heppenstall and Oliver Berry came on for Avisford and Heppenstall’s through-ball put Charlie Hunter through. The striker buried the ball past Worthing keeper Connor Rogers for his 21st of the season.

The home side were pegged back when Oscar Sampson’s free-kick evaded everyone and nestled inside Klaudiusz Piasecki’s far post for the equaliser.

The decisive goal came with ten minutes to go. Wasowski’s corner found its way back to the defender, and his cross slipped through the grasp of Rogers for Avisford to regain the lead.

A win against Whyke United will seal third place for Avi, a massive achievement after two tough seasons.
