Pett, an occasional contributer to the Chichester Observer’s sport pages, has been congratulated by the club for his efforts.

An initial target of £100 was raised within a few hours of the donation page being set up, with many of the funds received from fellow players and staff at Eas Dean FC.

His next target of £250 was then reached and he eventually totalled £300 by the end of the month.

All proceeds go towards tackling mental health and men’s health, a subject high on the radar in the currently climate.

Pett said: “I couldn’t believe I reached my original target so quickly.

“After seeing how well it was received I upped it and that target was also smashed.

“The charity is close to my heart and I wanted to do my part in helping fight the taboo subject of mental health.

“ I’d like to thank everyone who donated, it means a lot.”
