Eastbourne Town beat Lancing to reach RUR Cup final

On a bitterly cold Saffrons evening town Manager John Lambert made two changes both were enforced as cup tied forward Jack Langford was replaced by Tyler Scrafton and Ethan Strevett replaced the injured Dan Bolwell otherwise he kept fail with the team that beat East Preston on Saturday.

With the wind behind them town started well putting their visitors under pressure with Aaron Capon dominated the right wing crossing for Zac Attwood who went close several time and Ethan Strevett shot wide from a great chance.

After 38 minutes Simon Johnson took a corner from the left Lancing keeper Matt Evens flapped at it the ball hit him and crossed the line, town were in the lead for the first time in the tie.

Lancing had more of the play in the second half although Capon was still causing them problems on the break and three Lancing players saw yellow for fouls on the lively winger.

As time went on the town defence held strong restricting their visitors to shooting. From outside the box.

As the match was about to enter added time Tyler Scrafton went forward and hit the bottom of Evens left post Zac Attwood followed up a gleefully smashed the lose ball into the goal to double the lead and ensure towns place in the final.

Town will face AFC Uckfield or Peacehaven & Telscome in the final at the Sussex FA headquarters on Wednesday March 18th kick off 7:15pm.
