Felpham foursome delighted by Sussex football call-ups

FOUR students at Felpham Community College were hand-picked to represent Sussex in the county's under-14 and under-15 football teams.

Dale Hayes, Jamie Horncastle and Archie Awcock were selected for the under-14s, with Sam Grover completing the team for the under-15s.

All four of the students will now represent the county for the season.

With more than 42 schools putting forward their best players, making the teams was not an easy feat for the four boys. In fact, hundreds of students turned out at the trials trying to impress the coaches.

Bryn Hauxwell, head of PE at Felpham College, said: “I’m incredibly proud of Dale, Jamie, Archie and Sam for making the team. For four students from one college to be selected to represent their county is a huge achievement.”

Mark Anstiss, headteacher at Felpham College, added: “I’m delighted Felpham teaches such talented young sportsmen. Felpham has outstanding provision for sports and this level of achievement from our college is fantastic. Well done boys!”
