He could make his debut at Derby on Saturday, while Sidwell and Kazenga LuaLua are also in contention to return after missing the Lazio friendly. Defender Connor Goldson will miss out. Long-term injured duo Solly March and Uwe Hunemeier are now back in training.

3: Every team in the hunt for promotion? Liam Rosenior thinks so: “Every team in this league is capable of getting promoted, all 24 teams if they put a run together can get promoted and that’s why we all love the Championship because it is unpredictable.”

4: Two more players wanted. Hughton wants to add two more players to the squad before the transfer window closes on August 31.

5: Disappointment at Pritchard deciding to join Norwich. Hughton said Tottenham were excellent in the transfer and Albion agreed a deal with the Premier League side, Pritchard’s representatives and the player himself. However, Norwich came in late and Pritchard decided to join the Canaries.
