Football: Chi City youth section is on the up

It's been an excellent season for Chichester City Youth - and they are already looking forward to another one the same.

Last season saw them move their home venue to Chichester High School, which has allowed the club to grow even bigger – something that will hopefully aid the section in growing further for seasons to come.

The season was very productive with the under-12s promoted and the under-16 Whites team pushing for promotion and winning a cup final.

This season Chichester City Youth will be seeing changes at the top – a new chairman and vice-chairman will be coming in to carry on the great work done so far.

The club will have two under-seven teams and an under-eight team all raring to play.

And the section will have its first under-18 team which will hopefully help players continue playing. The hope will be to see players come through the youth ranks and make it into the club’s senior teams.

Chichester City Youth staff say they are all looking forward to working more closely with the CCFC than ever before and hoped a top-class under-18 team every season.

In Chi Youth under-11s’ second tournament at Whyke Utd, they notched another double win.

Their white and green teams were in separate groups and again played great free-flowing football. In both groups the Chichester teams won all their games comfortably. Topping both groups meant again we didn’t have to play each other in the semis.

Both teams progressed to final, the Whites after a 5-0 win and the Greens 3-0.

A great final saw the Greens come out on top by 2-1 – taking revenge for the Whites winning the previous tournament.

Chris Bullen of Chi City Youth said: “We have a great team and because of how we are now playing football we attracting lots of attention, with players wanting to join.

“We are actually missing out on under-12s next season and going to under-13s 11-a-side football, and will hopefully playing in the top division.

“This is to push the players and improve them even more. It’s a strong division and we will aim to finish mid-table, which would be quite an achievement for 11-year-olds playing 13-year-olds.

“We are really looking forward to next season and the future looks great for Chichester City FC with this set of players.”
