Football round-up: Rocks grab point, City and Lions win in FA Cup

It was no more than the Rocks deserved, having gone close a number of times in the second half, when they were up against ten men.

Canvey went ahead on the stroke of half-time when Richard Halle fed Martin Tuohy, who scored his second of the season.

That came eight minutes after Canvey dwent own to ten men as Ashley Dumas commited his second bookable offence.

The Essex side needed some desperate second-half defending to stay ahead but just when it looked like they would hold out, Prior nodded in a corner.

A minute later, there was nearly a winner for Bognor as Ollie Pearce’s right-wing cross was headed inches wide by sub Alfie Rutherford.

In the FA Cup, Chichester City won through to the preliminary round with a 3-1 success at Crawley Down Gatwick.

Dan Simmonds and Rob Wimble were the goal heroes for Pagham as they won 2-1 at Redhill, also in the cup. But Selsey’s cup hopes are over after a 5-1 home defeat to Erith.
