There were defeats for both Chichester City and Selsey in their latest Sussex League matches.

Chichester City 1 Hailsham 4

Sussex League division one

CHICHESTER were comprehensively beaten 4-1 by relegation-threatened Hailsham at Oaklands.

Despite creating many chances, City’s finishing let them down in a contest that could have easily finished 6-6 with Hailsham missing two open goals.

City handed a debut to Matt Roberts, a former reserve with Redhill, while Connor Cody returned to the fold having spent time at Worthing and East Preston this season.

Hailsham raced into an early advantage with veteran striker Jamie Salvidge scoring in the 4th minute and Sam Divall extending the lead 9 minutes later.

Joey Pout made it 3-0 on 36 minutes and when Divall bagged another midway through the second half it was well and truly over.

Kieran Hartley struck Chichester’s consolation goal on 70 minutes.

Chichester visit Hassocks on Saturday.

CITY: Ender, Boniface, Bingham, Pearce, Cody, Roberts, Hartley, Ansa, Bush, Frangou, Taylor. Subs: Smith, Edwards.

Horsham YMCA 7 Selsey 0

IT was yet another tough day at the office for the Blues.

They are marooned at the foot of the table with just three points from 27 games after their latest heavy defeat, at the hands of Horsham YMCA.

Goals from Nick Sullivan (2), Adam Ocarrojl, Anthony Hibbert, Dave Brown, Dan Sullivan and Josh Brown gave them another afternoon to forget.

They’ll try again this Saturday at home to Eastbourne Town.
