Hinshelwood quits Selsey for Burgess Hill

Selsey FC have received, and reluctantly accepted, Adam Hinshelwood's resignation from his role as their club manager.

He has advised the club that he has been offered, and is taking up, a position with ex-Brighton player and coach Ian Chapman at Burgess Hill Town FC of Ryman one south.

Hunshelwood has put on record his thanks to the Sussex League first-division club for giving him the opportunity to manage the Blues for the past season and said he thoroughly enjoyed working at Selsey.

He said: “I have always been ambitious and the club have been aware that I want to be involved at the highest level I can.

“It has been a very difficult decision to make, but the lure of working alongside Ian, who I greatly admire and respect, was too much to turn down.

“Living in the village and having many friends at the club have made the decision to leave a tough one, but I feel this is the right move for me.

“I wish Selsey Football Club all the best for the forthcoming season and hope they are successful in the future.”

Selsey chairman David Lee said: “I am disappointed that Adam has decided to leave us, but we knew that he wanted to manage at the highest level he could and I wish him all the best in his new position and for the future.

“The club would like to thank him for taking on the managerial role at the club last year and for making an immediate impact in getting our first team through to the final of the RUR Cup.

“He is an extremely likeable young man and thoroughly hard working. Having had the unfortunate bad luck that he has had with injuries he could quite easily have given up on the game. However, he is taking his coaching badges and has thrown himself into football at this level and I am sure, with his determination, will prove to be successful.”

The position of first-team manager is now vacant and applications for the position are being invited. Anybody who is interested in the vacancy should contact David Lee in writing, which should include their CV, via post or email. Closing date May 31.

His contact details are: 72 St Peters Crescent, Selsey, Chichester, West Sussex PO20 0NP or [email protected]
