Hughton: Albion's exciting finish is probably unexpected
Brighton boss Chris Hughton admits his side's end to the season is so exciting because it is unexpected.
The Seagulls battled to avoid the drop from the Championship last season and are now in a three-horse race for promotion into the Premier League with just three games to go.
Middlesbrough lead the table by two points, with second-placed Burnley then ahead of Albion on goal difference.
Hughton said: “It’s exciting because it’s probably unexpected, I don’t think most people expected us to be where we are.
“But to be where we are at this stage of the season, with so few games left, can’t be anything but exciting and that’s what you’re all striving for.
“I think what we have done is cope with the pressure very well and that’s something that we’ll have to continue to do in these final games.”
Albion, Boro and Burnley have all scored late goals in recent games and Hughton expects more twists and turns to come: “You can only hope that some of the twists and turns work in our favour.
“At times when you expect to get a particular result, it doesn’t happen and everybody is fighting. It’s a strong, tough league as has been shown in all of these recent games. Not only for ourselves but for Middlesbrough and Burnley, there aren’t any easy games.
“I don’t expect any easy games through to the end of the season for any of us.”
