A first-half effort from Scott Jones and Daniel Watts’ strike six minutes from time gave them a two-goal cushion.

Last year’s runners-up ensured a nervy ending for Miles Rutherford’s side when Layton Schaaf pulled one back on 86 minutes.

Summer recruit Jones kept his scoring run going and fired City ahead after six minutes.

The home side had to wait until six minutes before the end to double their advantage courtesy of a Watts strike.
