Lions licking wounds after stuttering start to the year

Pagham FC await their first win of 2012 after both the first team and the reserves fell to defeat on Saturday.

The firsts travelled to Redhill and took the lead through Howard Neighbour on 38 minutes. The lead lasted only six minutes as Redhill equalised through Charlie Farmer, ploughing the ball past James Binfield.

Three minutes after half-time the Reds took the lead through Andrew Atkin.

Although the Lions fought to get back into the game, they returned home with nothing to show.

A top-of-the-table clash awaits them this Saturday with a home game against third-placed Lancing, who are only two points behind Carl Stabler’s lads.

Luke Cooper’s reserves lost to Rottingdean more because of lack of match practice than anything else. Racing into a 2-0 half time lead through Mark Cooper’s tremendous free-kick and a classy strike from Nathan Parke, they were undone by a Michael Damario double and a winner six minutes from time from Adam Hardwick.
