LuaLua hits winner against Blackburn

KAZENGA LUALUA scored his third winning goal of the season as Brighton & Hove Albion remain unbeaten this season, following a 1-0 win at home to Blackburn Rovers this afternooon.

Albion sit second in the Championship, level on points with leaders Ipswich who they travel to next Saturday.

After scoring the only goal in Brighton’s opening-day win against Nottingham Forest and then at Southend in the League Cup, LuaLua struck the only goal of the game after 35 minutes against Blackburn.

Albion keeper David Stockdale denied Fode Koita and then former Albion loanee Craig Conway when he got through on goal, before Dale Stephens fired wide from 18 yards at the other end.

LuaLua netted with a powerful shot from Sam Baldock’s pass, before Tomer Hemed was denied by Blackburn keeper David Raya early in the second half.

Rovers had a great chance to equalise when Nathan Delfouneso got through one-on-one but Stockdale again came out on top.

Hemed shot off target with an acrobatic effort just before the hour, before the visitors had a great chance to level with a minute to go but Shane Duffy headed over from six yards.
