Manchester United weren't only ones sweating on another result...

Manchester United weren't the only team who finished their season not knowing whether they'd won the title. But Chichester City Youth under-16s had a happier outcome than Sir Alex Ferguson's deflated troops.

Chichester completed the season with a 3-1 victory over Arundel Colts thanks to a hat-trick from Jonathan Tallent. They then had to await the outcome of Arundel’s game against Hawks Youth to see if they would be A division champions or runners-up.

Arundel beat Hawks 1-0 which meant Chi City Youth were worthy champions after winning 17 and drawing two of their 20 games.

Youth chairman Keith Tallent said: “It’s been a remarkable and very successful season for the all the young footballers at Chichester City Youth FC, and the future looks very bright for the club with so much young talent here.”

UNDER-13

Barnham Red under-13s set out to win promotion to the A league and reach at least the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup.

Things started well with back-to-back wins in the league and a convincing win in the first round of the cup. October and November saw a dip in form but the final two league games of 2011 brought a draw with Selsey Red and a 5-3 win away to top side Worthing Utd.

Comfortable wins in the Challenge Cup meant Barnham were in the semis.

Barnham started 2012 brightly but the semi-final, against Felpham Colts, ended in defeat.

After that Barnham went from strength to strength in the league. A draw with Worthing Town was followed by a run of five straight league wins which saw Barnham clinch promotion to the A league as champions with a game to spare.

The final game of the season saw a 3-2 defeat to Predators, but with nothing to play for Barnham hardly got out of second gear.
