One in and two out at Sidley

It’s been a case of one player in and two out over the past week at Sidley United.

Chris Gould has arrived from AFC Uckfield, but Marc Munday (pictured) has gone to try his luck with higher grade Burgess Hill Town and Kevin Bird has left the club.

Gould signed at the back end of last week from fellow Sussex County Football League side AFC Uckfield and although he hadn’t trained with Sidley, made his debut in the 1-0 loss at Peacehaven & Telscombe on Saturday.

Left-footed attacking player Gould was a prolific marksman for Division Three side Uckfield Town before joining Division Two outfit Bexhill United partway through last term.

Although he was never truly able to establish himself at The Polegrove, one-time Rye United man Gould enjoyed a decent start to the current campaign with an AFC Uckfield team which Sidley beat three times before Christmas.

Combative midfielder Munday was a regular in the Sidley starting line-up following his summer switch from Bexhill, but after dual-registering with Burgess Hill, was sent-off for two bookable offences on his debut last weekend.

Quicksilver wide man Bird has departed to pursue regular football having been in and out of the side lately. He has been a Sidley player since autumn 2010, scoring two senior goals last term and two more this season.

Although they’ve shown an improvement in their two games in 2012, Sidley have picked up just four points from a possible 27 and have dropped into the bottom half ahead of the trip to Horsham YMCA tomorrow (Saturday).
