Out-of-form Bosham are potted by Pottage

Pease Pottage have recently gained in strength and form as Bosham slip the other way.

The early pace was frenetic and the villagers edged in front after only five minutes when Aiden Cawte broke clear of the offside trap and surged into the box from wide right. Cawte unleashed a low drive that rocketed into the bottom corner sparking generous celebration.

Their enthusiasm turned to despair when the Reds drew level just before the quarter-hour when James Ash expertly lost his marker and spun in the box to fire home a low shot.

The Blues’ pace had the Reds worried at the back, causing concern for manager Tony Hancock.

James Francis hit the woodwork from a free-kick with keeper Simon Hasted beaten and Kieran Purkis put the Blues back in front, tucking in a lovely cut-back from Cawte.

Bosham made the worst possible start to the second half, conceding a third just over a minute in when Tom Telfrey picked up a loose ball and left the Bosham defence in his wake to calmly tuck the ball past Hasted.

Just after the hour, Kieran Hartley hit the bar and Joe Hancock was on hand to divert the rebound past keeper Martin Francis-Gray.

Francis-Gray had had a great game, pulling off great saves from Hartley and Marco Giambelardini and, even when boss Hancock brought on his substitutes, Francis-Gray was there to thwart the onslaught.

Bosham’s plight was worsened in injury time when Jack Hancock was dismissed, making the Reds’ task doubly difficult to achieve and Pease Pottage held on to secure all three points.
