Four Lions players were left celebrating doubles as the Blues wilted.

In-form Dan Simmonds got the rout off and running with two goals in the first ten minutes – the only surprise being that he didn’t go on to complete a hat-trick.

Instead he let others in on the act.

Rob Brown’s double made it 4-0 at the break before Lloyd Rowlatt and Joe Gromett each brought Selsey more double trouble in the second period.

Pagham lost 2-1 at Horsham in the Peter Bennett Cup on Tuesday night.

This Saturday, Pagham aim for more FA Cup success when they host Carshalton while Selsey return to Southern Combination division-one action at home to Oakwood.

Next Tuesday, Pagham are due to host Loxwood in the SC premier.

Saltdean 4 Sidlesham 2

Southern Combination division one

Sidlesham travelled to to Saltdean with a depleted squad. In total eight players were unavailable because of injuries, suspensions and other commitments.

The game started well for Sidlesham and they should have been a couple of goals to the good; however a great strike and an individual error meant Sids went in 2-0 down.

The second half followed the pattern of the first with Sids good in possession but with no end result.

As in the last two games, individual errors meant Sids were 4-0 down with 30 minutes to play.

Two quick goals from MoM Tom Bayley renewed hope but once again Sids had left themselves to much to do.

The Sids visit Seaford this weekend.

Midhurst 1 Hassocks 3

Sussex Senior Cup R1

A George Morris goal could not save the Stags from an early county cup exit.

Hassocks led at Rotherfield thanks to strikes on 60 minutes by Joshua Hawkes and 65 by Spencer Slaughter before Morris pulled one back.

Jonathan Melia’s late strike put paid to any hopes of a comeback.

Midhurst, who have appointed John Suter as their new manager after Gary Norgate stepped down, host Steyning in the RUR Charity Cup this Saturday.
