Parsons signing boosts Bexhill

Lewis Parsons is among the latest batch of players to put pen to paper at Bexhill United.

The defender will link up with younger brother Warren after moving to The Polegrove from fellow Sussex County Football League Division Two club Seaford Town.

Parsons, who has also played for Sidley United and Rye United, has missed only one pre-season training session so far and had a good game at right-back in the opening friendly against Worthing United on Saturday.

In addition to the Parsons brothers, others players to commit themselves over the past week are Dan Hill, Ross Markham, Martin Denny, Casey Ham, Ashley Kidman, Ali Adams and Joe Cornwall.

Hill, Markham, Denny, Ham and Kidman all ended last season at Bexhill, but Adams and Cornwall are new to the club. Cornwall is the more experienced of the two and both can play in several positions.

Bexhill continue their warm-up games with a trip to Sussex Division Three team Pease Pottage Village today (Saturday) in what is scheduled to be a first and reserve team double header (kick-offs 1pm and 3pm).

They will be back in action on Tuesday evening against Eastbourne Borough reserves on the outside pitch at Priory Lane, kick-off 6.30pm.

Somewhat unusually, Bexhill will begin their competitive matches with a John O’Hara League Challenge Cup tie, away to East Grinstead Town on Saturday August 11.

Bexhill United’s early season fixtures (league unless stated, subject to change): August 11 East Grinstead Town (a) John O’Hara League Challenge Cup 1st round, August 21 Saltdean United (a), August 25 Mile Oak (a), August 27 Eastbourne United AFC (a).
