PICTURE SPECIAL: Relive the Rocks’ great Grimsby effort

Bognor are reflecting with pride on their trip to Grimsby, where they pushed their National League premier-division hosts all the way before being forced to give up on their hopes of making the FA Trophy final at Wembley.

Heading to Cleethorpes 1-0 down from the semi-final first leg, Bognor went two down on aggregate to a Padraig Amond penalty before Dan Beck’s volley gave them hope.

But Amond struck a second for the Mariners with 12 minutes left to end the Bognor dream.

Even so, the club have won nationwide praise for reaching the semi-final stage while Bognor’s fans have made a bit of a name for themselves too - making themselves heard at every stage of the Trophy run.

And see the Bognor Observer, out on Thursday, for full coverage from Blundell Park and a look at how the Rocks are hoping their league run-in can help them end a memorable season on another high point.
