Yet that didn’t prevent supporters yesterday buying tickets on a busy opening day for the ticket office at Frogmore Road.

Lengthy queues gathered for the 10am opening and the club reported a brisk trade throughout the day.

Season-ticket holders and Trust shareholders have until 8pm on Sunday to purchase their seats.

Those wishing to secure their seats in person can visit the Frogmore Road ticket office or the Fratton end booths from 10am to 5pm until Friday.
