Seagulls shedding squad players but no decision yet on top talent Grant Hall

Four members of the club’s development squad, which exists in place of a reserve team, have been told they had no future at The Amex.

Goalkeeping prospect Mitch Walker is one of the foursome to part company with the Albion, but has already found himself in demand with both Eastbourne Borough – with whom he enjoyed a loan spell this season – and the Nicky Forster managed Dover Athletic keen on snapping him up.

Ryan Simmonds is also looking for a new team after being released for the second time in his short career having already had to get over the disappointment of being let go by Aston Villa despite captaining the club’s youth team to the FA Youth Cup final.

Jamie Strong and Leon Redwood were also released – joining first team midfielder Alan Navarro in heading away from the Albion.

Another five out of contract young players are still waiting to discover their fate – including the highly rated Grant Hall.

The 20-year-old, who made his Albion debut earlier this season, is the latest central defender to come off the Seagulls impressive defensive production line – following in the footsteps of Adam Virgo, Joel Lynch, Tommy Elphick, Adam El Abd, Lewis Dunk and Steve Cook.

He was reportedly watched by scouts from Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the season and has also been linked to Newcastle United.

Elsewhere, Gus Poyet moved to distance himself from a move for Burnley’s Dean Marney.

Poyet said the midfield player was too likely to be too expensive in terms of wages. Reports on Sky Sports however suggest Brighton are in the market for AFC Wimbledon star Sammy Moore.
