Selsey seen off by Seaford - but boss sees bright spots

The visitors hit the ground running with Craig Pooley getting on the score sheet on seven minutes before Oliver Jones netted five minutes later.

Despite the scoreline, Selsey remained confident and on the front foot but they could not find a way through the Seaford defence.

Throughout the game the hosts had four one-on-ones as well as striking the crossbar with a penalty.

Selsey were finally rewarded for their attacking efforts but it was nothing more than a consolation goal.

Jake Jackson was the first to react in a crowded penalty area, allowing him to find the back of the net on the 92nd minute.

Selsey boss Steve Bailey admits that defensively there are still issues but he is encouraged by the amount that they created going forward.

He commented: “I am disappointed to not get anything out of the game, we created a lot of chances but we just struggled to defend.

“Defensively it has been the same problem for a long time but the team has definitely improved as a unit.

“We are much better, as we are always a threat on the front foot, which is good to see.”

Elsewhere in division one, Midhurst were celebrating a fine 2-1 home win over Little Common thanks to goals by Miles Hamilton and Luke Sheldrick.

But Sidlesham went down 3-0 at home to Oakwood.
