Selsey's up-and-down form continues - now for three in a week

Andrew Atkin's goal was enough to condemn Selsey to a 1-0 defeat in division one of the Sussex League at Redhill.

Atkin grabbed his 14th league goal of the season just before half-time at Kiln Brow as Adam Hinshelwood’s side missed the chance to close the gap on the teams above them.

It is the third time this season Redhill have enjoyed victory over Selsey and leaves the High Street Ground outfit in 13th place in the table, now six points off the top half.

It’s a disappointing follow-up from their 5-2 win over St Francis Rangers a week earlier and is the sixth time this season Selsey have been beaten by a single-goal deficit.

Selsey now prepare for three games in a week starting on Saturday with the visit of Hassocks, who drew with Arundel on Saturday.

On the opening day of the season fifth-placed Hassocks were 3-1 victors over Selsey, and are on goalscoring form with nine from their last four games.

That game is quickly followed by the re-arranged local derby with Chichester City at Oaklands Park on Tuesday night while January ends with a trip to Sidley United’s Glovers Lane ground on Saturday week.
