That’s not Brad for starters as Felpham Colts sink the Seals

Felpham Colts head this week’s youth football round-up with a 2-0 success over Selsey Seals, but there are also wins for Northchapel Colts, Summerley Park Rangers - and plenty more action and goals besides.

Felpham Colts 2 Selsey Seals 0

Luke Miller went close early on with a header and Brad Lambert’s clever wing play allowed him the space to cross but it was just behind Will Green in the centre.

Lambert soon opened the scoring: with the Selsey keeper being unable to handle a back pass, Lambert was on hand to steal possession and turn the ball into the net.

Colts continued to dominate but wasted too many opportunities. Lambert saw his point-blank effort blocked, Ewan Phillips blasted wide as did Peter Nicholls from close in and Harry Riseborough hit his shot straight at the keeper.

Green eventually doubled the lead after good approach play down the right but Selsey kept attacking to the end and only the good work in defence of Matt Yates, David Stevens and Ben Eardley kept them out.

Felpham thought they’d added a third near the end only for Lucas Cordosa’s shot to rebound off the underside of the bar and to safety.

FELPHAM COLTS: Calvin Negus, Alex Gardener, Matthew Yates, David Stevens, Ben Eardley, Brad Lambert, Alex Droupin, Luke Miller, Peter Nicholls,

Will Green, Harry Riseborough. Subs: Ewan Phillips, Lucas Cordosa, Ryan Jones.

Northchapel Colts 3 Bognor Regis Town Youth 1

Northchapel gained a valuable three points by beating top-of-the-league Bognor Regis Town. Jack Banting scored with a lob over the keeper and Archie Challen soon doubled the lead.

Challen scored his second and Chapel’s third from the penalty spot.

Bognor pulled one back in the second half but Chapel held on to seal a brilliant victory. Man of the match was Dean Bicknell.

NORTHCHAPEL: Merritt-Smith, Groves, Bicknell, Thorpe, Edgington, Clayton, Carr, Thornley, Kitchener, Stride, Poste, Challen, Banting.

Bognor Regis Town Colts 1 Horsham Youth 4

Bognor needed a draw to be almost certain of winning the league.

Horsham dominated from the off and looked the better team, but Bognor got the breakthrough when a great ball from George Lawrence allowed Sam Neal to score.

Horsham equalised and came out for the second half looking hungry for more.

Bognor could not break through and their defence could not stop Horsham scoring three more. Bognor were unlucky to have one disallowed after the linesman flagged for offside.

This was Bognor’s first defeat of the season but with two games to go – one of them away to Horsham – they still have work to do to secure the title.

BOGNOR: Suter, Davies, Ediker, Neal, Mendosa, Rowlatt, Champ, Neal, Walters, Jays,

Summerley Park Rangers 3 Worthing Minors Athletic 0

Against third-placed Worthing Minors, Summerley began slowly and allowed Worthing too much of the ball.

A crunching tackle from defender Terry early on let the Worthing forwards know Summerley were up for the game.

Gradually Summerley gained more of the possession and created most of the chances.

Worthing’s counter-attacks were dealt with calmly by the Summerley defence, including man of the match Farndell.

Summerley came flying out of the blocks after the interval and Hayes’ cross was superbly headed in by Mepham.

Towards the end Worthing applied sustained pressure, Sargeant making a superb save from a 30-yard screamer.

Summerley countered, with Millard slotting home Summerley’s second. Mepham sealed the game following a through-ball from Millard.

This victory leaves Summerley needing two more wins for the title.

SUMMERLEY: Sargeant, Terry, Farndell, Worsley, Kilhams, Yates, Millard, Rafferty, Hayes, Groom, Mepham.

Chichester City Colts 1 Midhurst & Easebourne 1

This was a tight match that could have gone either way.

Midhurst dominated early on and went ahead when Ryan Hyde put away a corner from close range. Chichester equalised from a well-taken free kick that gave Midhurst keeper Charlie Goodwin no chance.

But he wasn’t beaten again in an excellent display.

MIDHURST: Goodwin. Coulson, Jefferies, Hyde, Lambert, Moir, Georgiou, Trewin, Goodman, Payn.
