They're Bourne winners at college sport awards night

A special evening was enjoyed by all at Bourne Community College's sports presentation evening.

It was an outstanding success with all of their top sportsmen and women getting recognition.

Guest speaker Ben Barnes, a former England hockey captain and owner of Game, Set and Match attended and his words were encouraging and inspiring. With around 150 students invited, there were many awards for participation and recognition of sporting excellence up for grabs.

Many students won numerous awards including player of the year, most improved player and highly commended for each team. There are a few awards for which the winners deserve special recognition.

Male sports personality of the year was Liam Cooper, female sports personality of the year was Lucy Pratt and the most improved team of year were the Year 8 girls’ basketball side.

Team of the year were the Year 7 athletics team, the contribution to sport award went to Ben Sargent and the Margaret Eva OBE Award for sporting excellence was taken by Holly Beaton.

The Bourne Community College PE department thanked all who contributed to the success of the evening.
