The Westies will kick-off their Macron Store Southern Combination Football League Division Two season with a home game against Clymping on Saturday.

Warren said: “The squad we’ve put together is a good enough squad for the league above so we’ll be looking to win the league - that’s our main aim.”

The 2015/16 campaign will be Westfield’s first outside senior football this century after they were relegated in the summer for ground grading reasons.

With a lot of unfamiliar opponents and many from West Sussex, it promises to be a bit of a step into the unknown.

“We don’t really know a lot about it,” continued Warren. “It’s going to be tough. I think it’s going to be a lot more difficult than people think.”

Although key figures like Gordon Cuddington, Sam Henham, David Pugh and Sam Willett are no longer on board, Westfield have retained quite a few players and have added some from local football.

“We’ve brought in good quality players that are more than capable of doing as good a job, if not better,” Warren added. “We’ve got the basis of a good side and the squad’s bigger than it was last year.”

Having played eight or nine friendlies, Westfield certainly should be ready for a season which will start with three successive home fixtures.

Roberto Martellini and Sam Winter are away for the first of them, and Dom Burt has dislocated his shoulder. With four goalkeepers unavailable, Joe Rogers is set to don the gloves.

Westfield’s other opponents this season will be AFC Roffey Club, AFC Varndeanians, Alfold, Billingshurst, Bosham, Cowfold, Ferring, Hurstpierpoint, Ifield Galaxy, Montpelier Villa, Roffey, Rottingdean Village, Rustington and Upper Beeding.
