Youth football: Predators claim scalp of unbeaten Chichester

Predators (pictured) knew they were in for a tough game as Chichester topped the league with eight wins out of eight.

Josling went one-on-one with the keeper but his shot was wide. This spurred on Predators and Josling and Farndell saw chances evade them.

After the break Chichester became frustrated as Predators kept intercepting loose balls. A long ball saw Farndell take the ball round the keeper and score.

This boosted Predators further and Chichester found it hard to get the ball into their half. Josling hit a spectacular ball from the wing which flew over the keeper’s head and in. He then added his second, a superb strike.

Predators keeper Williams had only two shots to save.

Predators manager Paul Harris awarded the whole team the man-of-the-match award.

Pagham 3 Barnham Trojans 1

Pagham started well and soon created chances for Knight, Cleall and Standen. They took a deserved lead on 28 minutes when Arnell’s corner found Oliver and he finished superbly.

Barnham hit back and on 31 minutes a free-kick was scrambled in. Pagham started the second half well, and on 55 minutes a cross from Arnell was knocked through by Knight to Misselbrook, who finished sweetly into the corner.

Pagham made the game safe on 76 minutes when a quality move down the right by Arnell passing through to Urbanczyk who crossed for Knight to beat the keeper at the near post.

Pagham man of the match was Harry Oliver.

Lancing Rangers 0 Midhurst & Easebourne 1

With both teams near the top of their league a close game was always likely.

Midhurst started brightly before Lancing settled.

The first half finished 0-0 thanks to a goal-line clearance by Midhurst’s Tom Wilson.

In the second half Lancing were awarded a penalty but Midhurst’s new keeper Reece Collins-Powell pulled off an amazing save.

Five minutes later, following great play down the wing, Jake Burtoo scored. Collins-Powell had to work hard with the defence to prevent Lancing levelling.

UNDER-14

Chichester City Youth 0 Middleton Diamonds 3

This was a close game against the league leaders and the damage was done in the first half.

After 20 minutes of end-to-end stuff, Diamonds opened the scoring. In ten minutes of strong possession, they scored two more.

In the second half Chichester had more control and had plenty of chances but lacked the finish.

Man of the match was Charlie East, who calmly dealt with everything that came his way.

Chichester City Colts 4 Rustington Otters 2

The Colts broke their duck in the A league with a well-earned win.

They took the lead when good play from Graham and Cheeseman allowed Stremes to tap in.

The visitors were level when a mistimed tackle led to a penalty, but a marvellous individual goal from Jack Graham sent the Colts in at half-time with a lead.

The Colts increased their lead when Graham smashed in his second. Rustington hit the post and Graham had chances to complete his hat-trick before Joe Gallop made the game safe with a cool finish at the far post.

Rustington got a consolation in the last minute from the spot.

Bourne Sports 3 West Wittering 3

West Wittering went into this fixture on the back of a great win against the table-toppers.

In blustery conditions on a hugh pitch, Wittering struggled in the first period.

Joe Sissons had to be at his best to keep the scoreline even, but Bourne did break through for a two-goal lead.

James Street, Jordan Martin and skipper Harry Standing had half chances for Wittering.

Just before the break the home side’s skipper made it three.

The second half was dominated by Wittering and they finally got one back when Sissons fired in a spectacular long-range free-kick.

Street and Lucas Goldsmith both went close before Martin was bundled over in the box and Josh Hubbard stepped up and, although the kick was saved, he followed up to tuck away the rebound.

The comeback was completed with two minutes left when Finley Bacon’s cross fell kindly to Dan France, who smashed in.

UNDER-13

Highdown Saints 2 Predators Yth 0

Predators’ long unbeaten run ended in a hard-fought game. The Saints dominated the first half and took the lead from a corner.

It took several good saves from man of the match Connor Fellows to keep Predators in the game.

A different Predators emerged in the second half but the equaliser would not come. Saints scored to make the game safe.
