Harries' hot form earns England under-20 200m title

Toby Harries is now England under-20 indoor champion over 200m '“ even though he is just 17.

He won the title at the England Athletics Indoor Championships in Sheffield last weekend. This is regarded as the British Championships as the best sprinters from throughout the UK compete.

The final itself included three World Youth finalists and two Commonwealth Youth Games medalists with four of the five finalists being part of the British junior men’s relay squad, Harries included.

It was thrilling final race as Harries came off the banked corner catching Bromby and Tindle in the last ten metres to win with a time of 21.26 seconds, a PB.

The weekend before, Harries, who is coached by Jon Bigg and runs for Brighton Phoenix, ran an indoor PB at the Welsh international, which was also a meeting record, in his first race since achieving silver at the Commonwealth Youth Games.
