Here she runs the rule over Friday evening’s card, which precedes a DJ set by Andy Cato of Groove Armada.

“In the first, the Gordon’s Apprentice Stakes I like Good Authority,” writes Hayley. “The horse ran well last time out under William Buick and will have the added bonus this time out when Thomas Brown claims 3lb.

“In the second race, it has to be Ultimate Warrior - the Hannon team always do so well at Goodwood and although some of the other maidens have run before, the Hannons always do well in races of this type.

“In the next I fancy Empiricist, who won well last time out for local Goodwood trainer Amanda Perrett and her horses are running well at the moment.

“In the Crimbourne Stud Stakes I like David Simcock’s Majeed – he finished really well at Chester last time out when fourth and should come on from that run.

“In the Frankie’s 26th Anniversary Maiden I like Anna’s Pearl. The horse was runner-up on three of his four starts as a juvenile, including a French Group 1. He was well held in a free handicap at Newmarket in this headgear on his reappearance, but has sights lowered considerably now, and is the one to beat.

Finally, I like Bluegrass Blues, who is drawn two and should run well following and encouraging run at Pontefract last week.”

We’ll have a report of the evening’s racing on this website on Friday night
