Hornchurch 3 Rocks 0

The Rocks slipped to their first defeat in seven weeks when they lost at Hornchurch.

The visitors started brightly and Richard Hudson's early free-kick gave them their first chance, but former Bognor player Darren Behcet saved well.

With 10 minutes gone, a Hornchurch free-kick gave Michael Spencer his chance but his goal-bound header was neatly tipped over the bar at the last moment by Pernecky.

Moments later a great flowing move saw Bognor carve open a chance for Bogarde whose ball across the box was met on the volley by Jason Prior, only for Behcet to pull off another great save.

Not to be outdone, Pernecky then had to come flying out of his goal to defy Joe Flack.

Pernecky had to be alert again midway through the half to save two strong Hornchurch efforts as the home side began to take a firm hold on the game.

With 30 minutes gone, a wonderful Bognor move down the left, started by Jack Clark, gave Hudson two chances on goal but both were cleared off the line.

With five minutes to go to half-time, Grant Hall's mistimed tackle on Dwayne Jackman enabled Jonathan HUNT to open the score for the Urchins with a goal from the penalty spot.

Hornchurch came out strongly in the second half with Pernecky having to save well from Hunt.

A double substitution by the Rocks saw Matt Woods and Gary Norgate on for Bogarde and Oatway, and within minutes Woods combined well with Hudson to create a half-chance for Prior.

With 65 minutes on the clock the Rocks rashly conceded their second penalty with a clumsy tackle by Clark on Jackman.

Jonathan HUNT tucked it away but not before Lewis Ide was sent off and Michael Birmingham booked.

Hornchurch were now in full flow and Janney smashed the ball against the bar as the home side piled forward.

Richard Hudson did shoot narrowly off target in a rare Bognor attack but soon afterwards Janney added a third goal with an easy tap-in following an excellent run by the impressive Jackman.
