In recent years, the screen - sited opposite the main stands - has been put up only for bigger meetings.

But big screens will shortly be in place at all fixtures run by Fontwell’s owners, the Arena Racing Company, which make up 40 per cent of the overall fixture list.

It’s a move bound to go down well with Fontwell Park regulars.

Viewing screens have been widely used by ARC racecourses in the past, but have not always been available for each fixture.

Now all the racecourses within the group will be using them at every meeting with 100 per cent coverage at some point during the final quarter of 2013. Four additional big screens have been purchased by the ARC group and a hire deal put in place to ensure coverage at the other courses.

The current ARC screen has been fully refurbished - a considerable investment which is part of a continued drive towards improving the customer experience on course for racegoers.

Tony Kelly, managing director of ARC, said: “This is an investment of more than £1m across the group and it is all part of our desire to increase the enjoyment of racegoers and provide them with good viewing opportunities at all of our racecourses.”

The Racehorse Owners’ Association are one organisation who have been keen to see all racecourses have big screens and their views have been taken into account by ARC.

Fontwell is currently on its summer break from racing, but the action resumes with Ladies’ Evening on Thursday, August 15.
