It's almost time for athletes to rise to the Corporate Challenge

IT'S less than two months until the 21st running of the Chichester Corporate Challenge gets under way in the city centre.

Once again the event organisers, Chichester Runners, are anticipating a large turnout in all age groups, ranging from primary schoolchildren to senior athletes.

As in previous years, the races will take place on three Wednesday evenings.

This year’s dates are February 29, March 14 and March 28.

The race headquarters will be at the Assembly Rooms in North Street, with the first races on each night at 6.30pm.

In addition to the 600-plus competitors, there will be the usual throng of supporters lining the route and making it one of the most exciting spectacles in the local calendar. As well as local athletes, led in recent years by Chichester’s James Baker, the elite A race also attracts top-quality runners from along the south coast. However the event is very much a team competition and entries from a variety of companies normally include many runners seeing their first taste of competition over the 4,500m senior course.

Entry forms for the challenge will be available from the Chichester Runners website – www.chichester-corporate-challenge.org.uk – or from the club’s noticeboard at Westgate Leisure.

There will, as usual, be full coverage of all three race nights, including full results, in the Observer.
