Mariner's year proves plain sailing at Selsey

When the veterans' section of Selsey Golf Club held their annual meeting, more than 40 members were present to congratulate the 2011 captain Brian Mariner on a very successful year under his captaincy. They also appointed their 2012 captain, David Tindale.

Money raised for charities is very important to the members and this year the section raised a total of £699. Charities receiving donations this year include St Wilfrid’s Hospice, Chestnut Tree House, the Selsey Snak Shack and the RNLI, which this year celebrated 150 years of the Selsey lifeboats.

The RNLI was the retiring captain’s nominated charity for which he raised £299.
