Arun gymnasts competed in the south-east regional novice and intermediate floor and vault competition against gymnasts from across Sussex, Surrey and Kent.
For several of the novice gymnasts this was their first competition and a chance to see how well their hard work in training was paying off.
In this competition, consistency across both elements was very important as medals were awarded only for overall position with rosettes handed out to the fourth to sixth-place finishers.
All the Arun gymnasts put in a superb effort and the club were rewarded with four medals and eight rosettes in total.
There were two gold-medal winners – Elysia Natale, who won her group after placing first on floor and third on vault, and Emilia Grochala, who was also placed first on floor and second on vault.
Arun also claimed two silvers, won by Lily Kan, who was first on floor then second on vault, and Karla Thompson, second on floor and first on vault.
There were three fourth-place rosette winners – Isabella Woodward, Callum Beaven and Harvey Negus – while four Arun gymnasts – Isabelle Childs, Grace Callaway, Brooklyn Smith and Eva Rennie – claimed rosettes for fifth. Isabel Foster won a sixth-place rosette.
Other good performances came from Tia Hart, Eve Holland, Chloe Miller, Sebastian Cunningham, Ruby Bowditch and Annie-Rose Mitchell, who all finished in the top ten of their respective groups, while Georgina Reynolds had a notable third-place vault in her group.
It was a long but satisfying day for coaches Carolyn Millar, Natasha Andrade-Paris and Heather Wallace and they were pleased to see so many wonderful performances.
