Chichester Racquets & Fitness Club hosted an eight-and-under red mixed matchplay tennis tournament.
The grade-six singles event began with a round-robin format of two groups of five and six players, with each match comprising a match tie-break to ten points. The best two qualifiers from each group went into the semi-finals.
Oscar De Lacy collected bronze by beating Luke Skinner 10-8 in the third/fourth place play-off. The silver medal went to Freddie Whitby, who lost out in a thrilling match to eventual winner and gold medal-winner Ross Wilson 13-11 in the final.
All the semi-finalists are members of the Chichester Racquets & Fitness Club and receive their coaching with the Chichester Tennis Academy, based at the club.
Tournament organiser and referee Peter Cook said: “We have been treated to some fantastic tennis matches from these young players. They have also displayed tremendous respect for their opponents and great sportsmanship throughout the event.”
