Schoolgirls get into the thick of tournament rugby

Chichester Rugby Club hosted an under-15 girls’ tournament featuring The Regis School, Midhurst Rother College and Felpham Community College.

The tournament gave the girls the chance to put their skills into practice and was the first that many of the girls had taken part in.

You would not have known this, however, with superb handling skills and strong tackling paving the way for hotly-contested matches. All the girls were outstanding, showing a great attitude and enthusiasm, with special mention going to Ellie Kingdon and Aisha Taylor-Samson of The Regis School, Molly Buxton and Abbie Smith (Midhurst Rother College) and Carol Cavanagh (Felpham Community College).

The event was organised and refereed by RFU community rugby coach Mike Marsh and Chichester RFC coach John Breach, and supported by West Sussex West School Sport Partnership.

Chichester RFC now run a girls’ section, headed up by Breach, and they are always looking for more numbers to take part in training sessions and matches.
