VIDEO: Sport in 2014 - The Bull arrows into Chichester

We’re up to September in our review of Observer-area sporting highlights of 2014 – and that was the month a darts legend dropped into to take on local players in Chichester.

The first season of the Perfect 10 Darts League ended with a night to remember as special guest star Terry ‘The Bull’ Jenkins played a series of exhibition matches against the top players from the league and some lucky members.

MC for the night was Chris Skinner of the Darts Performance Centre – and he warned The Bull he was not in for an easy ride.

He was right, as Gary Williamson showed by beating the PDC star in 18 darts. However, as the true pro and showman he is, The Bull then threw an 11-dart leg against Courtney Wilson – hitting the double 18 on his knees – then taking out 121 to beat Terry Howse and 136 to beat Lee Franklin.

Gary Blackwood and Adam Lipscombe couldn’t find the magic that had earned them second place in the league and Jenkins beat both. The two group winners were next up and Rob Collins was on form with scores of 140, 100 and 85 – however Jenkins was fully warmed up by this point and matched his scoring all the way, taking the leg.

Craig Stoner, well-known locally as the former Bognor goalkeeper, has already beaten some world-class players including Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor and former world champion Les Wallace.

Stoner outscored Jenkins throughout the leg and added The Bull to his list of scalps.

League organisers Ben Marley and Mike Rooke thanked Jenkins, MC Skinner, the players and everyone who came to support the exhibition night.
