Netballers are reaching their goal in West Sussex

Netball is thriving in this part of West Sussex.

There’s now a netball team to the north in Midhurst, east in the Arun area, where four teams are beginning a small league, and most recently to the south, where Selsey Netball Club are breaking on to the scene with their Purple Dolphins team.

They want more ladies who perhaps have happy memories of playing netball in school to come out of the woodwork, dust off their trainers, put on their kit and come to play. Gentlemen are welcome too.

You can go to the CDC Get Active festival at Oaklands Park, Chichester, this Sunday (Sep 6), where the Selsey Purple Dolphins will be playing on the grass netball court specially marked out. If you’re wearing trainers, you can join in.

There’s a netball shooting competition for adults and children, a quiz, some coaching and a chance to take on the Purple Dolphins as an Allcomers team. Mixed Netball Leagues are becoming increasingly popular.

If you want to rekindle old skills, no matter what skill level you are at or what age but you have a sense of humour, you are invited to Selsey Netball Club’s next Back 2 Netball sessions. They start on Tuesday, September 8, (7-8pm) at the indoor court at Selsey Academy.

There’s opportunities for you too if you are already an umpire or a UKCC netball coach as there’s still much more to do for the development of netball in West Sussex.
