New Horse for Goodwood Racehorse Owners Group

Goodwood Racehorse Ownership Group (GROG) has announced its new purchase for the 14th Scheme. The purchase, made by bloodstock agent Richard Frisby on behalf of GROG, was made at the recent Tattersalls Part 2 Yearling Sale. The yearling, consigned by Lynn Lodge Stud, Ireland, is a colt by Mtoto and out of Starring, an Ashkalani mare. Mtoto, himself an excellent racehorse, is also sire of Derby winner Shaamit.

The dam, Starring, although placed, never actually won herself, but has produced a winner from her only foal of racing age. Spinning, a gelding by Pivotal, won recently at Redcar over seven furlongs by 3 lengths.

Gail Brown, GROG Racing Manager, was present at the sale and made the following comments about the new purchase.

"I am particularly pleased with this colt. GROG may have secured stronger pedigrees in the past, but in my opinion this is the nicest individual we have bought."

The colt, who is yet to be named, will follow suit with all other GROG horses and go into training with John Dunlop, who trains locally to Goodwood, at Arundel. The new purchase has been bought for the 14th Scheme of GROG and will run for this ownership group for two years.
