No Kidding - Trish and Donna fly the flag for Sussex in darts open

Sussex pair Trish Kidd from Bognor and Donna Rainsley from Newhaven found themselves in their second successive major final at the England open in Selsey.

Hoping to repeat their success from last September when they lifted the England Classic ladies’ pairs, their opponents this time were formidable world champion Trina Gulliver and her partner Lisa Ashton.

Despite a brave battle the Sussex pair were unable to overcome their opponents and lost the final 3-1.

In the singles, Chichester’s Hayley Gatford was rewarded with an opening draw against the world-ranked No1 Deta Hedman but lost 3-0.

Littlehampton player Karen Winter and Bognor’s Trish Kidd both reached the last 16, Winter narrowly losing 3-2 to London’s Clare Bywaters, and Kidd losing 3-0 to Wiltshire’s Kirsty Hutchinson.

In the youth section, Bognor star Harry Annals reached the last 32 of the boys’ event where he met the youth European champion Nick Kenny.

Annals lost 2-0 while Kenny went on to lose the final 4-3 to Craig Brown.

In the Bognor Friday Night League, BRSA A continue their good form in division two, with Steve Aizlewood producing some good legs of darts in 21 and 23, and Pete Mitchell topping this with a 120 finish to give him a 15-dart winning leg.
